Apple's Find My network is one of the largest and most accurate item-tracking networks in the world. Over a billion active iPhones, iPads, and Macs anonymously help locate any compatible item — including your FIQI Tag.
This guide walks you through pairing your FIQI Tag with Find My in under a minute, then covers what to do when something doesn't go as planned.
Before you start
- iPhone running iOS 14.5 or later
- Bluetooth turned on (Settings → Bluetooth)
- Signed in to iCloud with two-factor authentication enabled
- Your FIQI Tag, still in its packaging
The 60-second setup
Step 1: Open the Find My app
It's pre-installed on every iPhone. If you've never used it, the icon is a blue circle with a radar sweep.
Step 2: Tap the "Items" tab
You'll see four tabs at the bottom: People, Devices, Items, Me. Tap Items.
Step 3: Tap "Add Item"
At the top of the Items screen, tap the + button, then choose Add Item → Other Supported Item.
Step 4: Activate your FIQI Tag
Pull the clear plastic tab out from the FIQI Tag's battery compartment. You'll hear a short startup chime — that means the tag is awake and broadcasting.
Step 5: Hold the tag near your iPhone
Within a few seconds, your iPhone will detect the FIQI Tag and show a "Connect" button. Tap it.
Step 6: Name your tag and pick an emoji
Common choices: "Keys" 🔑, "Wallet" 👛, "Backpack" 🎒, "Pet" 🐶. The name appears on the Find My map so make it memorable.
Step 7: Done
Your FIQI Tag now appears in the Items tab alongside your other Apple devices. You can tap it any time to see its last known location, play a sound to find it nearby, or get walking directions to it.
Troubleshooting
iPhone doesn't detect the tag
The most common cause is a tag that hasn't been activated:
- Confirm you pulled the battery tab all the way out. The tab is clear plastic and easy to miss.
- Press the surface of the FIQI Tag firmly once. You should hear a chime.
- Hold the tag within 30 cm of your iPhone.
- Toggle Bluetooth off and on in Settings.
Tag connects but won't show location
It takes 1–2 minutes for the first Find My ping to register. If still nothing after 5 minutes:
- Take the tag near a window or outside
- Confirm your iPhone has internet
- Confirm Find My → Items → your tag name → Enable Notifications is on
"This item is already linked to another Apple ID"
The FIQI Tag is currently paired to a previous owner's Apple ID. Reset it:
- Press the tag surface 5 times within 2 seconds.
- Wait for the confirmation chime.
- The tag is now factory reset and can be paired to your Apple ID.
What if I lose the tag itself?
That's the point of Find My — your tag is itself trackable. As long as it has battery and any participating Apple device is within Bluetooth range (about 80 m), the network will report its location to you. Find My alone has over a billion active devices, so coverage in urban areas is dense.
